What factors do you take into account to ascertain which basketball camp is the best for your daughter? Much of your decision depends upon whether your child wants to get trained to play professional matches or she just wants to have some fun. For fun and exercise, local girls basketball camps are the best.

These camps are either managed by local coaches or by dexterous high-school players. In such camps, your daughter will be able to learn the basics of the game as well as get all the fun. These local girls basketball camps are usually cheap and easy to find. On the other hand, if you child wants to learn the rudiments of the game as well as improve her skills and proficiency, then you would have to find the best camp for her. Here are a few factors that you should take into consideration while comparing girls basketball camps.

- Location of the camp-

How far is the camp from your residence? If it is a day camp, then you would have to drop in and pick up your daughter. You would also have to accommodate the changes in the training schedule. If the camp is close to your home, then a lot of commuting time would be saved, and it will be relatively easy for you to manage things. In the case of residential camps, your child would be staying in the camp throughout the training period. Hence, you wouldn’t have to worry travel time and distance. However, it is still advisable to select a residential camp that is close to your residence. During emergency, you will be able to reach the camp quickly.

- Competence of the staff-

The next important factor that you should consider while comparing girls basketball camps is the competence of the staff. Are the coaches well-trained and experienced? Do they have the expertise to buff up the innate talent of your child? Do they know how to handle students with different capabilities and aspirations? Do they have the ability to push your daughter to the highest level of excellence while being kind and respectful to her? These are some imperative questions for which you should find a feasible answer. Besides the trainers and coaches, you should also try to ascertain whether the camp is well-equipped to deal with the emergencies and accidents.

A good girl basketball camp ensures that a doctor and nurse are always available to deal with crisis adeptly. Furthermore, the security system in such camps is also up to the mark. Brochures and websites are good place to find up-to-date information about the camp and its staff. You can also talk to other parents to get first-hand information about the quality of service.

- Rules and regulations-

The rules and regulations of the camp should be clearly defined. Your child should get proper training in a fun-filled environment. You should know everything about the training schedules and exercise sessions. Moreover, there should be requisite rules for maintaining off-court discipline. All in all, the rules and regulations of the camp should help in the overall development of your child.

- Cost-

While comparing girls basketball camps, it is important to consider the cost. The price tag should be reasonable and affordable. Try to get a segregated price structure. This will help you to ascertain the hidden costs like food and transportation fees, insurance, equipment fees, and the like. Try to find out the facilities you are getting after paying a high price. Is your daughter getting proper accommodation, wholesome food and superlative training? This is a crucial question for which you should find a realistic answer before choosing a basketball camp.

How to Choose the Best AAU Girls Basketball Camp?

There was a time when the game of basketball was learnt only with the help of the college coaches. The concept of personal trainers, summer camps and AAU teams was not quite prevalent. With the passage of time, however, fortunately the things have changed for good. Today, there are hundreds and thousands of basketball camps, and it is exceedingly difficult to find out the best one for your daughter or friend. Here are a few tips that will help you to unearth the best AAU girls basketball camp.

- Ask for recommendations- Ask your friends, colleagues and relatives to recommend some good basketball camps. Frankly discuss the salient features of the organization. Ask them to narrate their experiences honestly. Persuade them to tell you what they liked the best about the team and what they disliked.

- Search the internet- The internet is also a good place to hunt for the best AAU girls basketball camp. Here you can read the reviews and testimonials to evaluate the goodness of the camp. It is advisable to browse through the website vigilantly. You can gather several important pieces of information from there.

- Talk to the head of the organization- Once, you have shortlisted a few superlative girls basketball camps, talk to either the head or manager of the organization. Try to retrieve as much information about the camp as possible. Before you send your daughter to one such AAU girls basketball camp, you should know everything about the qualifications of the coach, training methodology, exercise routine, food, shelter and the like.

- Find out about the training schedule- Girls basketball camps can be broadly divided into two categories viz. preseason camp and offseason camp. In both the cases, the training schedule is quite rigorous. However, with respect to the former, the participants practice only for a few hours each day, and they also get a number of off days.

Offseason camps, on the other hand, have morning as well as evening training sessions. Furthermore, the training schedule runs between Monday and Friday. It is very important to have complete knowledge about the training session because at times you would have to travel with your daughter to the camp and with requisite information it would be easier for you plan out beforehand.

- Ascertain the fee structure- Last, but not the least, you should know whether you can actually afford to send your daughter to the best AAU girls basketball camp or not. Apart from the program fees, you would be expected to bear a number of expenses like the travel costs and tournament fees. Don’t hesitate to discuss the different payment plans. After all, they have been specifically designed for parents like you.

Everything You Wanted to Know About Girls Basketball Camps

Girls basketball camps are excellent training grounds for both greenhorns as well as professional players. Here you get an opportunity to learn the brass tacks of the game and buff up your skills. The training session in these camps are not at all easy and painless; instead, it is tough and grueling. It is specifically designed to test your endurance, stamina and patience.

The primary objective of the training session is to bring your innate talent and leadership qualities to the forefront.

Types of basketball camps

Basketball training camps are usually segregated into different classes on the basis of their purpose and the age-group of the participants. The camp meant for small girls will teach the participants the fundamentals of the game like how to dribble, shoot, pass and defend the ball.

On the contrary, the camps meant for school or college girls help the players to get into shape, understand the playbook, and work in a team. Furthermore, through video analysis, discussions and classroom sessions, these camps persuade the players to think, strategize and prepare a failsafe game plan.

The training session

Each training session in the girls basketball camps can be divided into three parts. The first part is meant of warm up; you will be made to jog, run and do some routine exercises. After 15 to 30 minute warm-up period, you will be made to practice the basics of the game.

In the final part, all the players will be divided into two teams that will be made to play either 5-on-5 or 3-on-3 games. This three part training session will help the instructors and coaches to ascertain, which players are progressing, and which of them are not doing well. Time frame of the camps The time frame of girls basketball camps generally vary. While preseason camps last for about a month, offseason camps usually take place during summers for one or two weeks. In the case of the former, the players practice only for a few hours each day, and they also get off days.

In offseason camps, the players practice both in the morning and evening. The training session typically runs from Monday to Friday; Saturday is often included. Myths and truths It’s a myth that girls basketball camps are not as backbreaking as football or soccer camp. The participants are made to exercise, practice and attend classroom sessions regularly. They are also punished, if they do not perform well consistently. Moreover, before participating in the camp, you are expected to learn the rudiments of the game as well as put in an extra effort to build up your strength and resilience.

Quite often, players prefer a personal trainer over an elite girls basketball camp.

Elite Girls Basketball Camp vs. Personal Trainer

Quite often, players prefer a personal trainer over an elite girls basketball camp. However, the big question is whether the personal trainer has the capability to provide you all the benefits that a superlative basketball training camp can offer. Let’s try to find a feasible answer for this question.

- Complete attention-
It is true that under the vigilant eyes of the personal trainer, your skills improve and your innate leadership qualities come to the fore. Conversely, you also have to play with different players and teams so as to uncover your strengths and weaknesses. Moreover, when you interact and play with other equally talented players, you learn brass tacks of the game quickly. You can get all these benefits only in an elite girls basketball camp.

- Intensive training sessions-
Your personal trainer will create a training session specifically according to your needs. He will ensure that you exercise properly and practice all the requisites and prerequisites of the game. In the case of basketball camp, the situation is slightly different. The training session there also is quite rigorous and grueling, but it is quite generalized to accommodate the needs of all the participants.

- Extensive analysis and discussions-
In the elite girls basketball camp, emphasis is also given to classroom sessions, video analysis and discussions. By participating in such activities, the players learn how to strategize, plan and use their skills to defend the game and defeat the opponents. A personal trainer can also hold extensive analysis sessions, but in the absence of the team, the depth in the discussions is missing.

- Availability of different types of coaches-
A major benefit of an elite girls basketball camp is the presence of different types of coaches. Each camp has at least four coaches viz. shooting coach, whose main job is to teach the correct shooting mechanics; skills coach, who is concerned with developing the ball handling skills; performance coach, who specializes in speed training; and conditioning coach, whose primary duty is to keep the players in shape during offseason. One personal trainer cannot provide all the benefits of the four expert coaches.

- Fees and other expenses-
To participate in girls basketball camp, you would have to spend something between $350 and $700. With respect to the personal trainer, the expenditure is certainly less. In nutshell, the advantages of an elite girls basketball camp are definitely more than those provided by a personal trainer. If you wish to improve your skills and get the much needed exposure, then without a second thought join any girls basketball camp today and experience a big difference in your learning.
