All the exposure in the world doesn’t mean anything if a player’s academics aren’t in order. A great mid-range jumper or sweet crossover dribble is useless if NCAA eligibility isn’t met. Unfortunately, many families become confused by these regulations, and many young ladies get lost in the shuffle. Lady Prodigy wants to offer guidance and coaching in the classroom as well as on the court. What is the NCAA Clearinghouse?

The policing agency for the NCAA. Students who plan to play Div I or II sports during their freshman year of college must register with the NCAA during their senior year of high school. This registration process certifies that the student has met certain academic and other standards, as required under NCAA guidelines in order to complete and receive athletic-based financial aid.

EducationPlanner guarantee scholarships?

No, a personal EducationPlanner account will help  prepare you in advance so that you will be eligible to receive a scholarship, but there are not any guarantee that you will receive one.

What are the NCAA requirements?

The NCAA requirements vary for Division I and Division II, taking into account your cumulative  GPA  from a number of  required  courses, and your SAT and/or ACT test score(s).

For NCAA Division I

As of 2008, the NCAA Division I requires that you have a certain GPA, and the following 16 core courses:

• 4 years of English
• 3 years of Math (Algebra I or higher).
• 2 years of Natural/Physical Science (1 year of lab if offered by high school)
• 1 year of additional English, Math or Natural/Physical Science
• 2 years of Social Studies
• 4years of additional core courses (from any area listed above, or from foreign language, non doctrinal religion or philosophy) and ACT and/or SAT scores

For NCAA Division II

As of 2008, if you want to play college sport, the NCAA Division II requires that you have a certain GPA, and the following 14 core courses:

• 4 years of English
• 2 years of Math (Algebra I or higher).
• 2 years of Natural/Physical Science (1 year of lab if offered by high school)
• 1 year of additional English, Math or Natural/Physical Science
• 2 years of Social Studies

When does the NCAA Clearinghouse notify the student athlete of the eligibility?

When they are a senior in high school. By then it could be too late.

Getting noticed is paramount. This is the most important lesson for the future college athlete to understand. If you want to stand out from thousands of others, you have to do a great job of marketing yourself.

A well-planned campaign will get you noticed early and often. College coaches are always on the lookout for future talent, but it’s your job to get your game noticed. In the past, recruits and their families would spend countless hours and thousands of dollars creating and mailing video clips and resumes. Unfortunately, many times the recruit wasn’t even sure that the materials were viewed by the appropriate staff. Families were left waiting and hoping to receive letters from coaches.

Luckily, our Lady Prodigy Basketball Report provides a more efficient way to implement and track your efforts. We use video technology and the web to make our players visible to the coaches at the schools in which they are interested. Here’s how it works:

Create your FREE personal profile (Open to 28.5 Lady Prodigy Campers ONLY)

Your profile becomes the foundation by which coaches can learn about you – your size, what position play, on what teams you have played, who your coaches are, what your academic record looks like, what schools you might be considering, etc.

Post videos to demonstrate your skills

Coaches love to watch film. Simply upload game clips so coaches can see you play. Send us as many as you want. You can even use Lady Prodigy Basketball Report’s Video Editor to create highlight films to showcase your talents.

Identify the schools you want to contact

List the schools where you are interested in playing basketball. Add to the list at any time. Each coach will be automatically notified of your interest and will be able to review your profile, watch your game films, and even contact your coaches if they so choose.

Keep track of coaches who have viewed you

Your profile will contain a list that tracks which coaches have viewed your profile and films, including how often they come back to take a look. It takes much of the mystery out of the recruiting process. Coaches can contact you directly via your profile if they are interested in learning more about you

Some coaches may pick up the phone and call you directly. Many, however, will initiate a conversation online – asking questions, inviting you for a visit to the school, etc.
