National Camp FAQ
Arrival Time – First Day of Each Session
Camp Orientation
Camp check-in will begin at 10:30 AM on the first day of camp. Our Camp
Orientation and NCAA Educational programs will start at 1:00 PM in the gym.
Please be dressed in semi-casual clothes. Late arriving campers should report to the gym. If your athlete will not arrive during the 10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
registration check-in period, please notify the National Camp Office of the
athlete’s expected arrival time. A lunch will be served that first day.
Departure Time – Last Day of Each Session
All parents, family members and friends are invited to our special parents’
program with camper participation at 5:00 PM on the final day of each camp in the gymnasium. Our awards ceremony and program will conclude by 6:00 PM
Clothing
Please mark your name in all clothing): (4-5) assorted gym shorts; (4) T-shirts ; flip flops; (10 pr.) sweat socks; light jacket or sweatshirt; 1 pair jeans and casual top. Though not mandatory, YOU ARE STRONGLY
ENCOURAGED TO WEAR HIGH TOP GYM SHOES AND HIGH SOCKS to prevent needless ankle sprains during the camp week.
What You Should Bring to Camp
Sheets (twin beds), pillow light blanket (rooms are air conditioned), towels,
wash cloth, shower thongs, soap, toothbrush, toothpaste, and any other personal hygiene items. Each player should bring her own refillable water bottle for hydration throughout camp. Minimal spending money is needed. Pay telephones and vending machines, offering miscellaneous beverages and snacks, are located within each dormitory. Campers may also choose to participate in the optional pizza night in which case she would, individually or with friends, order a pizza. Please note: These are only suggestions. each athlete will know best what items she needs for an overnight experience. Should your athlete wish to bring snack foods, she may do so providing all food is appropriately wrapped and stored. Please note that rooms at University of Texas-Arlington do not have refrigerators.
Items Not Allowed
Television sets; refrigerators; stereos (inexpensive radios are permissible);
expensive jewelry or watches. Grigsby Sports Group, Inc. is not responsible if any items are stolen or lost.
Cell Phones
No cell phones are allowed at camp.They are a distraction in the gym during
games and lectures and in the dorms during our rest and recovery periods, bed checks and sleep. Camp phones are available to all campers, if necessary, in the gym and in the dorms. In addition, pay phones are available in the gym and dorm for campers’ social use.
Room and Key Deposit
Each camper will be required to leave a $60 room damage and key deposit upon check in at the dorm. The full $60 amount will be returned to each camper at check out, providing the dorm room is in the same condition and the room key has been returned. The vast majority of campers and parents will get a full refund. However, this deposit guards against any unnecessary dorm damage and lost keys. The National Camp, in conjunction with the university, is cooperating to insure the proper conditions for subsequent camps. This deposit can be made with cash or check (payable to Grigsby Sports Group). Please Note:Any key not returned prior to a camper leaving campuswill be considered a lost key. Therefore, no key deposit refunds can be issued to campers not immediately returning keys.
Staff Supervision
We have a ratio of 10 campers to one staff member during all phases of camp.
Ours is a system of constant roll calling, so we always know each camper’s
schedule. University of Texas-Arlington provide 24-hour security service.
Dorm Mother
The Lady Prodigy Basketball National Camp employs a Dorm Mom to supervise our dormitories when your daughter is not in the gym. Our Dorm Mom is on duty, and accessible by phone (refer to TELEPHONE section for phone number), from 2:30 PM – Midnight each day our camp is in session. Please note: our campers are supervised 100% of the time by our staff , our dorm Mom, our coaches and/or our support staff.
Athletic Trainer
We have professional Athletic Trainers on staff during the entire weed. All
medical needs, such as injury treatment, knee and ankle wrapping, will be
addressed daily. Those campers on medication should register their condition and medication with the trainers on the first day of camp. Should, however, a camper wish to self-administer her medication, she may do so providing this is the perogative of the camper’s parents. In either case, it is imperative our trainers are aware of all medical conditions and medications.
Refunds and Cancellations
No refunds will be issued once camper had paid the deposit. Should a camper
leave camp due to injury or other medical issues, a prorated credit may be given for the following year.All cancellations must be made in writing either by mail or by fax. Please call our office with any questions.
Housing
All campers are housed in the air-conditioneddormitories at University of Texas- Arlington. Room / Roommate assignments are not made until the day before each camp session begins. If a camper has made a room request, it will be accommodated. You will be contacted, in advance, should we have any questions regarding roommate requests.
Visitors
Parents and families are welcome at camp at any time during the week. of course, NO boyfriends or other visitors will be allowed.
Automobiles
The parents of any athlete who will be driving themselves to camp must notify
the National Camp office of such plans. Athlete’s keys will be checked at
registration and will be returned to the camper at checkout.
